What a family session is like

We start by saying hello. No rush.

Then you do what you'd normally do. Walk, play, tickle someone, carry the toddler. I keep shooting.

It's over in 30 minutes to 1 hour. Short on purpose.

  1. We meet at your home or the spot we agreed on.

  2. I take photos while you move around.

  3. Your gallery arrives in 1 to 2 weeks.

Good to know

  • Toddlers and young kids

They don't need to look at the camera. A session this short suits their attention span, and I'll follow them rather than the other way around.

  • Teens

[TODO: Jess's approach, or leave out]

  • Grandparents and mobility

Tell me in the inquiry if someone needs to sit or can't walk far. At your home, that's easy to plan around.

  • The partner who hates photos

That's common. I don't ask anyone to perform. Mostly I ask them to stand next to someone they like.

  • Posing

    No stiff posing.

  • Pets in the family photos

Your dog or other pets at home are welcome.

Investment

Price on request. Includes 30 minutes to 1 hour, 20 edited photos and a private online gallery.

Common questions

What if my child won't cooperate?

That's fine. Sessions run 30 minutes to 1 hour, and I photograph kids as they move and play instead of lining them up. If we need a break, we take one.

My partner hates having their photo taken. Will it work?

Yes, it usually does. I don't ask anyone to perform. I give small, easy directions and keep the session short.

What should we wear?

Wear what you'd be comfortable in all day. Colours that sit well together look better than matching outfits, and plain fabrics look best in natural light. Skip small busy patterns and big logos.
